it's funny how

It’s funny how most people would never feel bad about kililng a cockroach, but might feel some remorse if they saw a dead mouse.  Or a puppy.  Cockroaches just don’t look enough like humans, so I guess it doesn’t matter whether they live or die.
In my Animal Behavior book I read about an experiment during which the top of two crabs’ heads were cut off, and they were cemented together.  Then, the upside-down crab had his legs cut off.  All in the name of science.  I bet there would have been a bigger uproar if a kitten had been scalped and had its legs chopped off.
